IEBlog : New IE7 Build Available from MIX06!

„Today is the first day of the MIX06 conference. Internet Explorer team members are presenting this week on much of the work we’ve done for IE7. As part of the conference, we’re handing out the „Internet Explorer 7 Readiness Toolkit“ on CD. This toolkit has a roll up of the IE7 information we’ve published previously and some new features for those attending MIX06.
One of the other items on the CD is an updated build of IE7 for MIX06. This is build 5335 of IE7. In order to give something to those of you who didn’t attend the conference and to address concerns or bugs that have been reported, we’ve made an updated IE7 build available to the public. This is actually an update from the build we put on the CD for the conference so it is the most up to date build available anywhere. It is build 5335.5 and it is now available for download at microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/ [microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/] . This build is for Windows XP Service Pack 2 and shows the current state of IE7.“ – Neue Version vom Internet Explorer 7

tomas.epineer.se & Asynchronous file upload with AJAX progress bar in PHP

„One of the few things that I find lacking in PHP is the ability to report the progress of a file upload. This means that file uploads, especially uploads of larger files, can be extremely frustrating for end users when they don’t know if the upload is progressing or if it has stalled or if it has even started. There are two ways around this. One is to patch PHP, Pdoru provides such a patch. Not everyone can patch PHP though. You can’t use a patch if you’re on a shared server, if you want to use ready-made binaries, if you don’t want to risk stability by using a patch or if you just don’t want to have to remember to apply the patch again every time you upgrade PHP. The other option is to use a perl script to receive the file when it’s uploaded. This is the approach used by MegaUpload. MegaUpload is what I have based my solution on, but I have added asynchronous file upload support and an AJAX upload progress bar, instead of the refreshing popup used by MegaUpload.“

Max Kiesler – Round-up of 30 AJAX Tutorials

„There are quite a few AJAX demos and examples on the web right now. While these are invaluable to learning AJAX, some people need a bit more information than just a raw piece of code. In todays environment there are many ways to learn AJAX including, books, classes, conferences, workshops and tutorials. Of these the only one that is free and accessible to everyone are web-based tutorials. The following is a list of what I consider the be the best and most helpful AJAX tutorials that I’ve found over the past year.

Please let me know through email or a comment if you know of any other great AJAX tutorials and I’ll be glad to post them. Also special thanks to all of the folks who produced all of these great free learning experiences“

„Summary: You can configure various TCP/IP parameters in the Windows registry in order to protect against network-level denial of service attacks including SYN flood attacks, ICMP attacks and SNMP attacks. You can configure registry keys to:

Enable SYN flood protection when an attack is detected.
Set threshold values that are used to determine what constitutes an attack.
This How To shows an administrator which registry keys and which registry values must be configured to protect against network-based denial of service attacks.“
